Every few months I have the privilege to give a tour of the Shule and a talk about Judaism to the local public schools in the area. It always gives me joy to hear the different questions that are raised by the students and to see them embracing a different religion, even if it is just for an hour or so.
However this week I had the wonderful pleasure of giving a tour to the children of our very own Bar/Bat Mitzvah group and it was a most amazing experience. The children were extremely interested in hearing about all the different items and objects in the Shul and they asked some excellent questions. It gave me a lot of Nachas to see them so excited by the experience. By looking at the joy on their faces one would have thought they were touring the MCG and being led by their favourite footy player! To me this is a very positive sign and it is consistent with the drive of the board and leadership of the Shule to have the children more engaged in Shule life. I think it is crucial for us to continue finding ways in making the service more engaging and also making children feel more welcomed in the service. I get so much nachas when I see children run past my seat, give me a hi five, demonstrating that they are comfortable in the Shule and feel at home. This is the goal we need to keep on scoring!

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and a restful weekend!
