The Faceapp application (an app which uses neural network technology to automatically generate highly realistic transformations of faces in photographs) has again taken social media by storm with people posting images as to how they might look when they are older. It’s a fascinating concept and I think it’s intriguing to see a conceptualized older version of oneself.

I believe a lot of the interest in this app is because it provides almost a “shock moment” and makes you really contemplate (albeit it might only be for a few minutes or so )your own mortality. There is a stark reminder that things aren’t always going to remain as they are and maybe we can fix or change things as we make our way on the journey ahead.

This got me thinking. What if there was a Soulapp? An app which could show you how your soul might look when you are older. How will you appear spiritually or emotionally in twenty or thirty years time? Will your soul reflect good deeds and kindness that you have shown to others over the years? Will it be “in shape” because it’s shared many moment of love and care with family and friends? Or will it age badly and look worn out because it’s only been focusing on your own needs and desires?

I don’t think we’ll see a Soulapp anytime soon but that shouldn’t prevent us from making sure that the condition or image of our “future” soul will be something we’d be proud to post on Facebook!
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and a restful weekend!
